THE REAL FACE OF ELDER ABUSE- Laura Lee Boyd - Laura moved in Sun Grove Resort
Village (SGRV) in November, 2008, when she was promised that SGRV was a
licensed assisted living facility with a nurse.
Those were all lies by SGRV’s manager Scott Green. Also SGRV’s primary caregiver, Claudia
Marquez, was previously cited by the Arizona Department of Nursing for misrepresenting
herself as a nurse.
Laura
upgraded her apartment with a roll-in-shower since she was confined to a
wheelchair. SGRV was unable to provide
the promised medical services and was not able to help her transfer out of the
wheelchair. In August, 2009, Scott Green
forced her to pay $6,000 to break her lease early even when SGRV unable to
provide the promised medical services.
Laura moved to a nursing home to get the medical care she needed.
Laura
wrote this all down in a Notarized Affidavit on 06/27/10 before she died on
10/31/10. She stated: “I am now aware that Sun Grove Resort
Village is not a real licensed Assisted Living Facility and that Claudia
Marquez is not a real Nurse. I believe Sun Grove Resort Village made illegal
misrepresentations of their ability to provide me medical services, property
trained caregivers, and a properly licensed Nurse. I strongly believe Sun Grove
Resort Village broke their own lease by their misrepresentation and that Scott Green, Executive Director, extorted from me $6,000.”
This
and other documentation was given to the Arizona Attorney General and the
Arizona Department of Nursing. Nothing was done to stop the SGRV false
advertising and the dangerous living conditions to the seniors living
there. Even today the Arizona Attorney
General and Peoria Police refuse to investigate and stop the criminal
activities at SGRV.
Laura Lee Boyd is just another
abused/exploited dead senior that received no justice from Arizona Officials.
THE CLIFF
DYRLAND ABUSE STORY

THE REAL FACE OF ELDER ABUSE – Cliff
Dyrland – Passed away February 2011 –
63-years old – Cliff was an injured, double amputee confined to a wheelchair,
Vietnam Veteran that worked as contractor in Las Vegas. Cliff was divorced but he was still very much
in love with his ex-wife and he was survived his daughter and sister. Cliff was our primary witness for the
Arrowhead Justice Court for our lawsuit CC2010-038658
against Sun Grove Resort Village (SGRV). Cliff was going to testify that he too was a
member of the SGRV’s Ambassador’s Committee and that he suffered from the
retaliation of SGRV’s Scott Green for fighting for the rights of the other
residents by being charged an extra $1,000 a month for rent. Cliff failed to appear in our 07/08/10 Trial
because he was in a coma in the hospital from an automobile accident. Our
Trial’s part-time Justice of the Peace, Melanie Deforest, refused to delay the
trial in order for Cliff to testify.
Cliff Dyrland is just another
abused/exploited died senior that received no justice from Arizona Officials.
THE GEORGE
GRABACH ABUSE STORY

THE REAL FACE OF ELDER ABUSE – George
Joseph Grabach – B: 08/14/32 - D: 01/17/10 -George was a long time Arizonan and a
Korean War Veteran. George was married to Ruth Jane Grabach and they made their
home for many years in New River. The Grabachs’ had two children, two
grandchildren, and a great granddaughter. George was buried at the National
Memorial Cemetery with the full military honors. George was another victim of
Sun Grove Resort Village’s elder abuse and senior financial exploitation that died.
George became terminally ill because of respiratory
problems, dementia, and Alzheimer’s in October, 2009, and had to move from SGRV
to a skilled nursing home. SGRV’s Executive Director, Scott Green, refused to
remove the extra monthly fee of $425 even when George was in the nursing home. SGRV’s
Scott Green refused to remove the extra monthly fee of $25 for the SGRV parking
space even when the George had sold his truck. Scott Green, and SGRV’s impostor nurse,
Claudia Marquez, even posed as a doctor and nurse and went to George’s nursing
home and illegally obtained his medical records. Scott Green wrote on the SGRV
stationary his 11/13/09 letter to Ruth Grabach stating: “The charge nurse informed us
that George is stable and would be ready to go home shortly. George is able to
pivot on one foot on his own. I encourage you to meet with Claudia, the Sunset
Care Givers’ nurse to discuss the opportunity to obtain care assistance via
Sunset CareGivers while continuing to live at Sun Grove Resort Village. It may well be possible and it is Claudia’s
opinion that the Sunset Care Givers can accommodate George’s care assistance
requirements at home.” SGRV broke the Hipaa Laws of medical
privacy, illegally impersonated a doctor and a nurse, and illegally offered medical
opinions by SGRV’s impostor nurse.
Ruth
Grabach wrote the Notarized Affidavit on 06/01/10 stating: “Letter dated November 13, 2009,
from Scott Green on official Sun Grove Resort Village Stationary – Subject:
Letter illegally states Claudia Marquez is a nurse which is a Fraud because she
is an Impostor Nurse.
Letter
also states Sun Grove will continue to charge for George Grabach as a 2nd
Occupant even though he is in the Nursing Home. Letter dated November 22, 2009,
Subject: From me to Scott Green complaining that he and Claudia Marquez went to
Brighton Gardens and got confidential medical information on George Grabach..” SGRV’s Scott Green’s reply on his 11/23/09 letter
stated that he was not bound to the Brighton Gardens’ patient privacy policies.
All
this documentation was turned over to the Arizona Department of Nursing (who
previously cited Claudia Marquez for being an impostor nurse), Peoria Police,
and the Arizona Attorney General for the prosecution of Scott Green and Claudia
Marquez. However, Mrs. Grabach was never interviewed by any of the Arizona Law
Enforcement Agencies and nothing was done to stop these illegal SGRV activities.
The Arizona Law Enforcement Agencies failed to discover that SGRV’s Scott Green
was a 2005 Medicare Fraud Felon that he had exploited seniors since 1999. Scott
Green was terminated on 08/28/12 from SGRV.
Claudia Marquez continues to misrepresent herself as a nurse at SGRV.
Ms. Marquez continues to put the seniors at risk with her medicine mistakes,
leaving seniors unattended in their beds for days, and putting them at risk
with her untrained caregiver staff. Nothing
has been done to stop Claudia Marquez’s law breaking activities at SGRV by the
Arizona Officials.
George
Joseph Grabach is just another abused/exploited dead senior that received no justice
from Arizona Officials.
THE DANIEL
MONROE ABUSE STORY
THE REAL FACE OF ELDER ABUSE – Daniel
Monroe – Passed away Summer 2012 –
63-years old - Dan was an injured Vietnam Veteran that worked for Ford Motors
as an engineer. Dan was divorced but he had one surviving daughter. We have
Dan’s SGRV elder/vulnerable adult abuse story recorded on 07/15/11 and
summarized by our elder abuse Private Investigator Jacob Mueller. Dan was another victim of SGRV’s elder abuse
and senior financial exploitation that died without any interviews by any Law
Enforcement Agencies. Dan moved to SGRV to in January 2009 and left after his
lease expired in December 2009. Dan discovered that SGRV was not the licensed
assisted living facility as advertised and because Claudia Marquez was an
imposter nurse, refused to care for his medical problems including MRSA. Dan
stated in our private investigator’s summary: “Mr. Monroe felt that Mr. Green
did not like him due to the fact Mr. Monroe questioned several safety issues
while at Sun Grove. A few of the items
that Mr. Monroe questioned Mr. Green about included, no fire evacuation plan,
no certificates in the elevators, unsafe electrical boxes, improperly installed
wiring on the outside of the building, and the fact that there were residents
who bound to wheelchairs and scooters residing on the second floor which had no
other way to get out in case of fire except by using the elevators.”
Dan
was a member of the SGRV Ambassador
Committee which brought concerns of residents to SGRV management. It was
customary for SGRV’s Scott Green to retaliate against those committee members
by withholding essential services, raising their rent to outrageous amounts,
and slandering them. The following SGRV Ambassador Committee members that
experience that illegal landlord retaliation for fighting for the fair housing
rights of others were: Bill and Dorothy Klink, Ed and Bonnie Hunt, Cliff
Dyrland, Mark Fairall, Roslyn Radden, and Dan Monroe.
SGRV’s
Scott Green withheld the delivery of Dan Monroe’s medication. Dan stated in our
private investigator’s summary: “I questioned Mr. Monroe a little more
regarding the refusal of Sun Grove employees to sign for his medication. Mr.
Monroe stated that he would have to drive the FedEx personally in order to
obtain his packages containing medication that were refused upon delivery by
Sun Grove employees. Mr. Monroe was
informed that Sun Grove’s employee would not sign for his insulin or his
narcotics. Mr. Monroe told me that all packages had to go through Sun Grove’s
office, and they would not allow the packages to be delivered directly to the
residents’ apartment. Mr. Monroe said
that he had his packages delivered for several months without any issues. In May 2009, Scott Green had told Mr. Monroe
that Sun Grove staff was not going to sign for any of Mr. Monroe’s medications.
He also had knowledge that Carol Fairall’s packages were also being refused for
delivery. During that time Mr. Monroe had knowledge that several of the
residents of Sun Grove did not have issues with their medications being refused
for delivery. Mr. Monroe felt that his
packages were possibly being refused due to him standing up for the other
residents in the community at Sun Grove.”
We
find it amazing that HUD is ignoring Dan Monroe’s testimony, our letter to
SGRV’s Scott Green requesting a Reasonable Accommodation Request for a Disabled
Person to have Carol’s medication accepted for delivery, and our attorney’s
email to SGRV’s attorney, Scott E. Williams, requesting a Reasonable
Accommodation Request for a Disabled Person to have Carol’s medication
delivered otherwise she will die Demand. SGRV stopped the delivery of Carol’s
medication 15 days after we filed formal complaints against SGRV in
retaliation. Felecia Rotellini is working to get our three year stalled HUD
complaint reopened and to prosecute SGRV for Fair Housing Violations.
Finally,
Dan addressed the following problems at SGRV in his 07/15/11 interview:
1. Claudia Marquez “posed” as a nurse and he thought
she was possibly an illegal immigrant.
2.
That a SGRV resident (Catherine Kielly) was left on the floor for nearly two
days because SGRV’s emergency alarm system was not installed or not properly
working.

3. That the SGRV resident Lena Frei fell out her of
scooter (which was caused by sidewalk cracks and uneven walkways). (The
picture is Alfred Earl McHenry who was 102 years old when he died because his
scooter tipped over on an obstruction on the SGRV sidewalk.)
4.
The SGRV residents were afraid to submit complaints because they feared
retaliation from Scott Green. Dan stated an anonymous complaint box where the
SGRV residents could write down their SGRV concerns without their names being
disclosed.
5. That the SGRV employee Gail (Magnusson) had
stolen money from the SGRV residents ($25,000 from Eldon Doll).
6. That the Fairalls had an unresolved mold
problem in their apartment and they not allowed to use the SGRV guest apartment
(which was a normal procedure when as SGRV apartment became unlivable.).
7. That the following SGRV residents were forced
to move because of their complaints:
Charles “Pat” Forest, Sally Byers, Norma Schneider, and Pam Klein.
8. That Sun Grove had financial problems
because issues with SGRV’s employee paychecks.
Dan
Monroe is just another abused/exploited dead senior that received no justice
from Arizona Officials.
THE MILLIE TOEDEBUSCH ABUSE STORY

THE REAL FACE OF ELDER ABUSE – Millie Toedebusch – 96-years old – Millie is a long
time Arizonan who is a window that lived at Sun Grove Resort Village (SGRV)
from 08/08/08 to 08/28/09. Millie is an incredibly resilient senior who enjoys watching
TV sports, playing Bridge, working with her computer, and enjoying her friends.
Millie
told her SGRV elder abuse/fraud story to our private investigator, Jacob Muller,
on 08/29/11. Jacob spent many hours recording Millie’s account on how SGRV’s Felon,
Scott Green, used false advertising, misinformation, the altering of a contact,
intimidation, and withholding of essential services to abuse and defraud her. Millie
told Jacob Muller that she moved because she was afraid for her life because
SGRV was not a licensed assisted living facility with a real nurse, SGRV had dangerous
standing water in the walkways, SGRV put everyone at risk since it had no fire
drills, and that SGRV did not have advertised emergency alarm system.
Millie
filed official complaints against SGRV with the Better Business Bureau, Area
Agency of Aging, and the Arizona
Attorney General Terry Goddard. Millie received no help from the Arizona
Officials in stopping SGRV’s elder abuse and fraud. SGRV’s Felon, Scott Green,
escalated his illegal Retaliation by filing a Baseless Lawsuit against Millie. The
Area Agency of Aging assigned Tim
Goddard, Executive Director of the Arizona Senior Citizens Law Project, to
represent Millie. Mr. Goddard did a very poor job of representing Millie
because he failed to appear at her trial and she lost by default judgment. SGRV’s abuse and fraud cost Millie $6,000
loss, living in fear at SGRV for a year, the inconvenience and expense of
moving, and the extra stress which caused her additional health problems.
Millie
just had $1,000 wrongfully charged on her credit card by a caregiver at her
present senior living facility, Vista
Del Rio. MILLIE TOEDEBUSCH IS JUST ANOTHER ABUSED AND EXPLOITED SENIOR THAT
RECEIVED NO JUSTICE FROM ARIZONA OFFICIALS.

THE REAL FACE OF ELDER ABUSE – Catherine
C. Reinertson – DOB: 06/15/16 – DIED:
05/02/11 – Catherine was my aunt, second mother, and roommate at Sun Grove
Resort Village (SGRV). Catherine moved to Arizona from in 1946 because of the better
climate for her sick mother. Catherine
was the Comptroller of Western Savings in the 50s, and started a children’s
daycare school with my mother. She ran Children’s Castle Nursery School for over
20 years. The pictures are of Catherine in 2009 and her grave in 2011 after she
was killed by SGRV’s elder abuse and senior financial exploitation.

Catherine
moved in to SGRV in August 2006 because and had her own SGRV apartment. I moved
to SGRV October 2007 and left October 2009 after two years of living there in
Hell. Catherine moved into my SGRV in August 2008 because SGRV raised her rent
15% (not the promised only 4% annual increase).
Catherine and I out over $3,000 of upgrades into our SGRV apartment and
she loved her friends there. Catherine
experience declining SGRV services because I was fighting for the rights of the
other residents while I was Chairman on the SGRV Ambassador Committee, I was
forced to resign from the committee when I addressed in a monthly meeting SGRV’s
false advertising, SGRV’s broken emergency alarm system, and the risk of SGRV’s
that had highly infectious diseases of MRSA and TB. I informed SGRV’s Green in August 2009 that I
was moving and to take care of my Aunt Catherine and new girlfriend. In order to protect the SGRV seniors I
informed SGRV’s Scott Green’s boss Chuck Major, Vice-President of Seniority
Inc., that Green was a terrible manager who was mean, devious, and a law
breaker.
The
Arizona Attorney General dismissed our complaint and said they could not
represent one incident. HUD dismissed
our complaint and said it was not illegal to discriminate against family
members. SGRV’s attorney wrote our attorney stating the SGRV had spent a lot of
money defending themselves from our complaints and they were willing to spend
big bucks and do anything in response to our complaints. SGRV refused to
service Catherine’s air conditioning unit for weeks which forced her to move
early for health reasons. SGRV
threatened to jail Catherine and she paid $3,000 to SGRV while fearing for her
life. Catherine died shortly afterwards broken woman that cried all the time.
Catherine
was never interviewed by any Law Enforcement Agencies but her story was
verified by our private investigator’s 07/29/11 interview of her nephew estate
executor Gil Bakke. CATHERINE REINERTSON IS JUST ANOTHER ABUSED/EXPLOITED DEAD

The Real Faces of Elder Abuse Wheeler, Bridget, and Brittany - Wheeler was born 10/28/00 and had five brothers and sisters. He was just a sheltie dog but God had many
plans for him. In the Westminster Dog
Show he finished third place (his name was Wheeler-of-Fortune). I think of him during this dog show time and try
to imagine his joy when he finished top dog in his class. His owner wanted to find his “forever
home” after his show days were over. That is when I came into Wheeler’s
life.

I just happened to be looking for a
companion since my mother had just died.
The breeder was recommended by a neighbor and I went to her Sun City
house in May 2003. The breeder had me sit in the middle of the room to see
which of her ten dogs took an interest in me.
Wheeler ran to me and jumped into my lap and picked me for his forever
buddy. I had to write a letter saying
how I was going to treat Wheeler. The Breeder allowed me to adopt Wheeler.
Wheeler always had two birthdays a year, his birthday and his adoption day.
We
spent four years together living alone and having fun in my house. Since I have seizures Wheeler became trained
to be my Service dog. He pushed the
emergency alarm button three different times saving my life. When we moved to a senior living facility
Wheeler spotted my future wife Carol.
Wheeler had always been very reserved but that was not the case with
Carol. Wheeler acted as our honorary
Best Man at our wedding.
When
we lived at Sun Grove Resort Village (SGRV) Wheeler got deathly sick from the
mold there. I just gave our lawyer our
10/23/09 letter to SGRV stating that we had to move because the leaky moldy
apartment was not safe for us. Carol, a liver transplant patient, Wheeler, Bridget, and Brittany were all getting very sick from the mold at SGRV.
Wheeler passed away last September just like Carol’s two yorkies and
they all died of liver cancer. The picture is of Wheeler the night before
he died celebrating his birthday early before his Heavenly Birthday.

Bridget and Brittany passed after being exposed to the SGRV toxic mold shortly after we moved from liver cancer. All our three dogs that SGRV killed are buried in our backyard with little crosses on their graves. Our hearts ache from their deaths as we view their little graves daily.

Carol just received a "Get Well Letter" from President Obama last December. President Obama is very aware that Carol is trying to protect other seniors from what happened to her with her speaking and writing. We just received the 02/05/13 letter from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS). The letter signed by Edwin Walker, Deputy Assisted Secretary of Aging, commends Carol for her elder abuse prevention class teaching (picture is Carol teaching a class on elder abuse prevention). Mr. Walker works for the Administration of Aging (AoA) which reports to President the DHHS Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius. The AoA is the federal agency responsible for advocating on behalf of older Americans.
The
DHHS letter reports that President Obama asked them to respond to the important
work that Carol is doing in preventing the abuse of the vulnerable
elderly. The DHHS letter states:
“We
are always pleased to hear about exceptional individuals, like your wife Carol,
who share our commitment for improving the lives and well-being of older
Americans. We certainly believe that education is the first line of defense in
combating the growing problems of elder abuse, and commend her meritorious
efforts in teaching seniors how to protect themselves against all forms of
mistreatment.”
I treasure every moment we have together. I know we
all will meet on the Rainbow Bridge together and we will have eternity to all
enjoy together.
