THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC NEWSPAPER IN NOT WHAT IT USE TO BE

Newspaper coverage of local problems is not what it use to be twenty five years ago. I was working to improve a blighted area of  Phoenix, Sunnyslope, through the Sunnyslope Village Alliance. The ARIZONA REPUBLIC NEWSPAPER could not have been more supportive with the press coverage. 

A young reporter, Ryan Konig, did an outstanding job of informing the community of the problem and progress being made to improve Sunnyslope. Sadly, Ryan Konig is no longer a reporter but a records-keeper for the newspaper. He has been replaced by reporters who print only the "feel good" or "sensational news" to achieve high readership. Newspaper reporting has become a tool of the marketing department. Also due to declining newspaper revenue the investigative reporter is almost extinct. 

Please read our email we sent to the ARIZONA REPUBLIC NEWSPAPER that we have communicated but failed to publish anything about the Elder Abuse and Senior Financial Exploitation at SUN GROVE RESORT VILLAGE (SGRV).  This senior living facility is a health hazard because of dilapidated building/sidewalks, non-working essential equipment, water leaks obstructing sidewalks, bad electrical wiring,  and toxic mold inside the apartments and around the senior living property's grounds. The seniors there are complaining about the smell that is making them sick but they have no idea about past SGRV problems and toxic mold dangers. The press has failed to warn the public about this dangerous senior living facility.

We have reported this elder abuse story our Senators Flake, McCain, and the US Senate - Special Committee on Aging. Please read our 03/28/13 email to Senator Flake and our 05/01/13 Letter to the US Senate – Special Committee on Aging. All the federal people we speak to are shocked that the only media coverage this terrible elder abuse story got was Channel 3 – On Your Side. We are now talking to the national press about the Arizona epidemic of elder abuse problems that the local press ignores. Only two Arizona Politicians wanted to read our 82-page report THE SUN GOVE RESORT VILLAGE ELDER (SGRV) ABUSE STORY. They were Ken Bennett and Chad Campbell. Interesting...the two primary Arizona Governor candidates. Of course Felecia Rotellini read it because she represented us (for free) against HUD, she wants to stay informed, and she wants to clean up the corruption in this state.

The email is our last FYI in attempting to inform the biggest newspaper of our elder abuse story which ranked in the top 10 of the 250 elder abuse stories gathered last year by the CONSUMER FRAUD PROTECTION BUREAU. Elizabeth Warren, the former head of the CFPB, is on the special Senate Aging Committee.

Carol is going into the hospital because her transplanted liver rejection numbers are now 14xs higher than normal. She will die soon like the other 33 abuse/defrauded SGRV seniors, which included my 94-year aunt, Catherine Reinertson. They all died as forgotten Sun Grove Resort Village abused and defrauded victims of the 2005 Medicare Fraud Felon Scott Green. SAD! Senior Justice does not exist with Arizona Law Enforcement. The Peoria Police, Maricopa County Attorney, and Arizona Attorney General refused to properly investigate our complaints, refused to contact the SGRV witnesses and victims, and failed to discover that Scott Green was a 2005 Medicare Fraud Felon who made his living scamming seniors.
